Urban Decay Vice Lipstick (Part 2)

Swatches, swatches, I <3 swatches!

Recently, Urban Decay launched 100 new Vice Lipsticks in a variety of different finishes (comfort matte, sheer, cream…etc).

I discovered that Sephora had a special promotion giving out a FREE Urban Decay Lipstick 24-Shade Deluxe Sampler with any $25+ order.  So, I jumped on this opportunity to try them out and do some swatches for you!

Going to the store and looking at 100 different shades with several different finishes can be overwhelming, so my goal of this post is to help you decide which colours you may want to try out.

It’s Swatch Time!

As I mentioned in my Urban Decay Vice Lipstick (Part 1) post, I’ve decided to divide up my swatches into three posts (a) so this isn’t the longest post of all times (b) some of the colours left a stain so I didn’t want it to effect the swatches (c) to save my lips from swatch misery.

So…here we go (* represents my favourites):

Seismic (Sheer Shimmer)
– “plum-purple with red shimmer”

My Comments:  I would agree that this is a sheer plum lipstick.  It glides on easily and has a beautiful sheen.

Menace (Comfort Matte)
– “medium fushcia pink”

My Comments:  This colour is a hot pink with a blue undertone.  It has a matte finish but has the luxurious texture/feel of a cream.

Pandemonium (Mega Matte)
“bright purple”

My Comments:   This colour is a vibrant medium grape purple.  It has a dryer formula making it harder to apply then the others.  It took a couple coats to make it opaque and not patchy 🙁

Big Bang (Metallized)*
-“bright pink sparkle”

My Comments:  I loved this one so much that I purchased a full lipstick.  It’s a sheer magenta with subtle-ish sparkles. So beautiful and unique (and not as Barbie-like as it sounds…lol)!

Jilted (Cream)*
– “deep fuchsia shimmer with blue shift”

My Comments:  This lipstick is a gorgeous raspberry colour with blue undertones.  It’s a bit metallic and very shiny.

Sheer Anarchy (Sheer)
-“fushcia”

My comments: This lipstick is a sheer medium pink that makes me look like I’ve been sucking on a fruit punch popsicle. I didn’t love it at first but it definitely grew on me.

Firebird (Cream)*
– “deep fushcia”

My Comments: This colour makes a statement!  It’s bright fushcia with blue undertones. It’s silky, smooth and creamy. (Note: it’s the colour I’m wearing in my gravatar)

Psycho (Comfort Matte)*
– ” bright rose with iridescent blue micro-sparkle”

My Comment: This one is a cross between Firebird and Jilted with teeny tiny blue sparkles.  It’s fun but still classy!  If I had more occasions to wear this, I definitely would have purchased it.

One more thing to note:

Trying not to be repetitive, I’m not going to include my general first impressions again but you can click here to read Part 1 and check them out (and see more swatches!).

I did, however, want to add one extra thing to my first impressions: Some of the bright shades stain your lips.  I know that I stated this above in my reason for splitting my review into 3 posts, but I thought it was worth mentioning again, as it’s intense!

The staining is great for “staying power” but if you are not 100% sure what colour to wear and apply one of the fushcia or red shades “just to try it out”…BEWARE!  You will be stuck with vibrant pink/red colour lips all day (or a least for a couple hours).  After doing these swatches, I had bright pink stains on my lips and arm for a couple hours…even after scrubbing.  You’ve been warned 😉

That’s it for now!  Make sure to checkout Part 1 and Part 3+.

Have you tried any of the new Urban Decay Vice lipsticks?  Which colours and formulas are your favourites?

There are many retailers I could have linked for info on the same products, so I figured why not link ones that reward me for selecting them so I can buy more products to review for you!  I want to re-assure you that the featured products were not selected on that basis. )
