Since becoming a mommy, I have been feeling like dressing and doing my makeup a little more classically dainty and feminine (think less black tops with bronze eyeshadows and dark cat winged eyes and more flowy dresses with sparkly highlighter, peach and purple shadows). BUT I realized that among all my MANY MANY lipsticks I didn’t have a neutral mid-tone pink to complete my look. Time to go shopping! YAY!!!
I went to a nearby drugstore to checkout what’s new and treat myself. I did no research – just wanted to go in, see what caught my eye and take a chance. Other then colour, the other important factor was getting something that would not transfer and ideally lasted throughout the day, or as long as possible….(I kiss my little one all day, every day and would prefer him not covered in pink smudges ;)).
After perusing the different brands, I bought Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink liquid lipstick in the colour Lover. The clean modern packaging caught my eye, there was a great selection of shades, and the term “ink” made me think that it would have staying power (good marketing!).

My Thoughts:
I am SUPER impressed. The product is exactly as promised – matte, long lasting, opaque, fantastic arrow applicator that allows precise application and picks up extra product, and it was a similar shade of the packaging.
The product is a thicker liquid, but not a mouse. When I apply the lipstick, my lips do not feel dry, cracked or cakey….in fact I forgot that I was wearing lipstick until I washed my face before bed…when it was still on! Yes – it lasted all day, even after eating lunch and dinner (well…a little bit came off after dinner in the inner bottom lip but was hardly noticeable. Might be more noticeable with a more vibrant colour).
The last thing that I loved, as mentioned above is the simple, clean but stylish packaging. And an added feature is that it makes a little clicking noise when you close it so you know 100% that it’s closed…..no leaks in my purse!
Although this product is fantastic, it’s not perfect. There were only three little “cons” to mention.
(1) The lipstick was a little challenging to remove in the evening but nothing a good face wash or makeup remover couldn’t handle.
(2) The lipstick does not apply well in your inner bottom lip so there is a blunt line where it ends but I find this with all my liquid lipsticks and it wasn’t super noticeable in this colour.
(3) Again, like most matte liquid lipsticks, it does slightly enhance the fine lines on your lips…..but nothing like most of the others I’ve tried.
