Anyone who has been following my blog knows that I LOVE Colourpop eyeshadows. With their unique moussy formula, they are easy to apply, sparkly (well, many are), opaque, affordable, and have crazy lasting power!
While writing my Best Makeup of 2016 post (stay tuned!), I couldn’t decided which of the many colours I should pick as the 2016 winner….so I decided to “take the easy route” (which actually wasn’t easy at all when I love ALL their shades) and make a separate short post featuring the top 10 shadows that I most frequently used and loved in 2016. (Note: I only included shadows that are still available for purchase in January 2017).
For today’s post, I wanted to share with you how I created my December 25th, 2016, makeup look. When creating this look, I decided to use warm festive colours with a touch of sparkle. I spent the day and night with my family (we went to see a move and then had dinner and played games at my uncle and aunts house) so I wanted to select products that last all day knowing that I wouldn’t have time for a mid-day touch up.
Colourpop has recently taken the beauty world by storm. This is awesome because they make incredible and innovative products however they only sell online and regularly change up their colour options (bringing out new colours and discontinuing old)…so sometimes it’s difficult to compare colours to see if a new shade is worth buying.
A couple weeks ago, I posted swatches of some of the Fall 2016 Colourpop eyeshadows. The post got more readers then any other of my posts and I received feedback through my blog and social media sites that people appreciated the swatch comparisons.
So, I’ve decided to start a new blog series called Colourpop Colour Comparisons. In these posts, I will be swatching and comparing Colourpop eyeshadows or lipsticks. I have an embarrassingly large collection of Colourpop products, that I purchased myself, so hopefully they will he help you decide what products are worth spending your money on.
I have a love/hate relationship with Colourpop Cosmetics! I love them because they keep creating amazing new innovative beauty products but I hate them cause they keep creating amazing new innovative beauty products….and I want to buy them all!!!!
I have been pinning eyeshadow looks and tutorials on Pinterest for YEARS but I realized that I haven’t actually tried any of the looks out…so, I’ve decided to challenge myself, by selecting my favourite pins to discover:
If I can create this look with my existing makeup.
If this look works well on my/a different eye shape and/or colour.
How helpful the step by step images are (if any).
What tips can I provide my readers to help you achieve this look.
No matter what skin tone or eye colour you have, purple is flattering on everyone! That’s why I selected today’s challenge, which I have entitled “Purple Pizzazz”.
On a day-to-day basis, I do wear touches of purple to line my lower lashes or add a pop of colour on the outer eye corner…but nothing this intense.
So although I was confident that the colours would look lovely, the big question was “would this be wearable” or just something artistic to look at online…I’d never know unless I gave it shot – so I did!
(For full disclosure, please note that a couple of the links are shopstyle affiliate links. The products were not selected on that basis. There are many retailers I could have linked for info on the same products, so I figured why not link ones that reward me for selecting them (I can buy more products to review for you!.)
